Perplexity Also Interested in Buying Brave and The Browser Company Before Bidding for Chrome

Earlier this week, Perplexity made a $34.5 billion bid to buy Chrome from Google. A very bold offer because Perplexity's own value is lower than the world's number one web browser. According to a recent report in The Information, Perplexity had previously met with Brave and The Browser Company to buy both companies.

The meeting with Browser Co, which develops the Arc web browser, was held late last year. The two companies could not agree on a sale price and talks were suspended.

Last month, Peplexity also met with Brave and offered them $1 billion worth of company stock to take over. Again, an agreement on the sale price failed and talks were suspended.

At the same time, OpenAI also met with The Browser Company but an agreement was not reached. Artificial intelligence (AI) developers want to have their own web browser to get the data needed to train new models. It can then be integrated into browsers to facilitate information search.
