Sony announced that it has resumed sales of its latest flagship phone, the Xperia 1 VII. Previously, Sony temporarily stopped sales due to a technical issue affecting a small number of devices. The issue caused the phone to lose power or not turn on at all.
Sony has conducted a thorough investigation to identify the cause of the issue affecting the device. The investigation found that the circuit board was damaged due to extreme temperatures and humidity during manufacturing. To overcome this, Sony has revised its production standards and added temperature and humidity control measures to ensure that quality remains stable.
Sony has also introduced a new risk management system that is currently being used for Xperia 1 VII replacement units and will be applied to future models to ensure more consistent product quality. The company is also committed to restoring customer trust through continuous improvements in quality and innovation.
For those interested, the Xperia 1 VII is now available in Malaysia at RM6,499. Early purchases also come with Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones worth RM2099 for free until 5 October 2025.
