United States to Review 55 Million Visas Held by Foreigners

The United States will review more than 55 million visas held by foreigners who are in the country or intend to travel in. The announcement of this review was made by the United States Department of State this morning as an effort to control the entry of foreigners under the Trump administration.

Among the reviews that will be carried out are those who have overstayed their visas, engaged in criminal activities, are a threat to public safety, are involved in any form of terrorist activities or provide support to terrorist organizations.

The social media account activities of visa holders will also be reviewed along with criminal records in their home countries after receiving a US visa. If prohibited activities are detected, the holder's visa will be revoked.

Under the Trump administration, the requirements for obtaining student visas have been tightened. Earlier this year, the United States Embassy in Malaysia stipulated that students who want to apply for an F, M or J visa must share their social media accounts and that they must be set to public settings so that they can be checked.

This is to enable checks to be carried out on the content uploaded by applicants. President Trump lamented that international students are ungrateful for the hateful social media that is spreading against the United States. This came after several pro-Palestinian demonstrations organized by student groups on campuses across America, attended by international students.
