WhatsApp Tests Auto-Disappearing About Status Feature

WhatsApp has started testing a new feature that will allow users to set their About status to disappear automatically after a certain period of time. Previously, the About status written by users would remain on the profile as long as it was not manually changed, causing old information to continue to be displayed.

Now with this new feature, users can set a timer for their status and it will be automatically deleted after a selected time. This feature allows users to choose a period such as 30 minutes, an hour, a day or set a period of up to a month.

The set status will be displayed at the top of the conversation space and alternate with the Last Seen, allowing contacts to see the current status more easily. Users can also add emojis to describe their mood to make the status more interesting.

After the period expires, the status will disappear from public view but will be stored in the status history that the account owner can access. Users can also change or delete the status before the period expires if they want.

For now, it is available to some beta users and will be rolled out to more users in stages in the near future.
