World Record for Overclocking Now 9.13 GHz on Intel Core i9-14900KF Chip

Two decades ago, one of the favorite activities of university students was overclocking to improve the performance of their PCs. The combination of extreme boredom (no fast internet and university in a place where genies visit) and the desire to be a champion on the LowYat forum is why I also got caught up in this activity.

This week, the world record for overclocking was broken by wytiwx, a Chinese user. The Intel Core i9-14900KF chip was overclocked to 9130.33 MHz (9.13 Ghz) using a liquid helium cooling system. Without overclocking, this chip operates at speeds between 3.2GHz and 6.0GHz. This new world record is only 13 MHz faster than the previous record, which was also recorded using the Intel Core i9-14900KF.

A 13 MHz increase is not a huge amount, but it is faster than the Intel 386 chip that was launched in 1985 with a speed of 12.5 MHz. In 40 years, the maximum speed of Intel processor chips has increased by more than 720 times.
