Call of Duty Live-Action Movie to be Released by Paramount

Put on your NVGs, put ACOGs on your rifles, stop speaking Russian and get ready to go to the cinema because a live-action Call of Duty movie is now a reality. Paramount has signed a deal with Activision to produce a film adaptation of the video game that has sold over 500 million units and grossed $33 billion since its launch in 2003.

Under the deal, not only will Call of Duty movies be produced, but a TV series will also be produced in its own virtual world. Paramount CEO David Ellison said that producing a Call of Duty movie has been a long-time dream of his because he is a fan of the video game series. He added that the movie will use Top Gun: Maverick as a template to produce a military action movie that meets the needs of fans.

This is Activision's second attempt at a live-action Call of Duty movie. The first announcement was made in 2015 with the involvement of Sicario 2: Soldado director Stefano Sollima and Scott Silver who wrote the screenplays for The Fighter, 8 Mile and The Joker. The film was supposed to arrive in 2018 but the project was canceled without a reason given.
