Design

At first glance, I was quite attracted by the design of this HP Omnibook X Flip 14. It uses a minimalist design that looks elegant and premium even though it is not the thinnest laptop in its class. The Atmospheric Blue color used also looks very neat and beautiful. In terms of construction materials, it uses iron-type materials but it is not stated whether it is aluminum or stainless steel. It weighs only 1.38kg which is quite light for me since I am used to the weight of gaming laptops.

This computer uses two hinges that are quite high quality, unfortunately it failed the one-finger test. This hinge also allows this laptop to become a tablet with the ability to rotate 360 degrees. This feature makes this laptop more flexible and versatile.

The connection ports can also be said to be complete for a professional laptop. On the right side there is USB-A and a 3.5mm audio jack. The left side has 2X USB-C ports, one of which has Thunderbolts 4 support, HDMI and also USB-A.

Overall, the design of the HP Omnibook X Flip 14 looks very good without any problems. Its compact size also makes it easy to carry this laptop anywhere. It is only possible that in the long run there will be some cosmetic problems because it uses metal-type construction materials.

Screen

The HP Omnibook X Flip 14, like the number in its name, uses a 14” IPS panel screen with 2K resolution. For protection, it uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which is quite low, but the probability of you dropping this laptop may be quite low. The brightness level of this screen can reach up to 300 nits which is acceptable. This screen can also be touched for navigation without a touchpad, but it uses a glossy panel that easily traps fingerprints.

Overall, this laptop has quite good screen specifications but the sRGB value is quite low, which is 62.5%, which is quite surprising for a laptop in this class. Despite that, it is still able to provide a good experience because the colors produced only appear bright to the naked eye, perhaps creative users will feel this low sRGB value more. The bezel of this screen is quite thick at the top and bottom, only the sides have thin bezels.

In addition to having touch support, this screen also supports a stylus. The ability to use a stylus is quite rare for a laptop, but it still has the disadvantage of not being able to reject a palm touch that is quite distracting when drawing. I recommend using a third-party drawing pad for a better experience.

Keyboard

The keyboard on the HP Omnibook X Flip 14 is one of the best keyboards I've ever used on a laptop. It uses a chicklet-type material that looks very minimal and I like the font type used by HP which looks very neat. The typing experience is also very good and does not make noise that may disturb people around. There is a lighting system that can be adjusted in brightness, suitable if you are someone who likes to work in the dark.

What I don't like is that there are spaces between the keys that are easy to trap dust. Each key also uses a non-glossy finish in line with the finish on the body of this laptop. If you are someone who has hyperhidrosis problems, fingerprints are quite easy to see on the keys that are often pressed.

Touchpad

The touchpad on the HP Omnibook X Flip 14 is not the largest in terms of size but I understand why it is this size because this laptop supports a stylus and has a touch screen. Even so, this touchpad can detect various gestures and movements that are made well.

Performance and Usage

The HP Omnibook X Flip 14 comes with several specification options in the Malaysian market. The unit being tested uses an Intel Core Ultra 7 256V processor combined with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM with a speed of 8533 MT/s. The internal storage is 512GB M.2 PCIE 4.0. The combination of specifications provides quite good performance but is a little disappointed because it only uses 16GB of RAM and it is not stated whether it can be upgraded or not.

The storage speed used is not surprising because it can reach 6.856 GB/s for read speed and 5.728 GB/s for write speed. This storage speed provides a fast and very smooth application opening experience without any problems. In the PCMark 10 test, it is able to achieve an amazing score showing the ability of this Intel chip in performing heavy tasks.

In daily use, this computer feels fast and stable for tasks such as writing, browsing the web, editing photos and videos. However, when editing videos using CapCut, the body will become a little warm and the fan will start spinning quite strongly.

Although this laptop is not categorized as a gaming laptop, it is still able to play some games, just not in the best and highest settings. I only tried playing Sifu on this computer and found that it would get quite hot plus the fan was quite strong even in medium settings. I am sure that for games of this age, this laptop can run it without any problems.

Battery

A 59Wh battery is loaded into this laptop. This is the first Windows computer I have used that can achieve battery performance of more than 2 hours and even up to 10 hours of normal use. I once left the charger at the office with about 65% remaining and it was still usable until the next morning. From charging, it uses a 65W USB-C charger which takes about 1 hour and 20 for a full charge.

Conclusion

As a first-time user of a Copilot+ PC laptop, this HP Omnibook X Flip 14 provides a fairly good experience. It has a good design and is lightweight, has amazing battery life and comes with stylus support.

The question is who is this laptop for? I do not recommend this computer to someone who cares about producing colors on the screen like painters and the like but for someone who often moves around and wants a laptop that is powerful enough to do light tasks.

If you are interested, this HP Omnibook X Flip is sold at a price tag of RM5599 for the model that uses this Intel Ultra 7 chip. With every purchase you can get HyperX Cloud III S Wireless for free. This HyperX Cloud series is the most comfortable gaming headset I have ever used. The sound quality produced is also quite good for casual use other than gaming.
