Huawei MateTV and MateTV Pro Launched With 98″ Screens and Smartphone Chips

Huawei has offered “smart screens” like the Vision Smart and Vision S to the Malaysian market before. Although they are clearly smart TVs, Huawei insists on categorizing them as smart screens. Typically, smart TVs are equipped with their own chips that are not comparable to the chips in smartphones.

Yesterday, Huawei MateTV and Huawei MateTV Pro were launched, which are the first two smart TVs from Huawei with chips comparable to those used in smartphones. Huawei did not reveal the chip used but some leaked images show it to be the Kirin 9020 but without cellular support. This is the same chip used by the Huawei Pura 80 and Pura X before.

Huawei MateTV Pro is the most powerful version with screens in sizes 75”, 85” and 98” MiniLED, 12GB memory and 256GB storage. There is a camera with a face scanning system and hand gesture detection. The audio system is 3.2.2 channels with 9 speakers and 180W output.
