OpenAI And Oracle Sign New Cloud Hardware Deal Worth RM1.26 Trillion

If you follow the developments in the world of artificial intelligence technology, you must know that OpenAI is in the process of developing an AI data center project called Project Stargate in the United States to strengthen the company's and the country's AI capabilities.

Recently, it was reported that OpenAI has signed a deal to purchase new hardware and cloud technology with Oracle worth $300 billion (~RM1.2 trillion) over the next five years for this data center project.

The two companies, together with investment from Softbank, will develop Project Stargate data centers that will require 4.5GW of power capacity, with OpenAI also previously signed a deal to build their own AI processing chips. By 2029, OpenAI is expected to spend a total of $119 billion on the development of their AI technology, from software development, AI training and also investment in their own data centers.

Groundbreaking has already begun for Project Stargate, with construction of the Stargate 1 data center in Abilene, Texas, and 19 other data centers expected to begin later this year. The total financial investment for Project Stargate is estimated to be $500 billion when it is expected to be completed around 2029.

The announcement also sent Oracle stock soaring, making CEO and owner Larry Ellison the world's richest man for a while.
