Presentation Slides Show How MyKad Can Be Used at Petrol Pumps

This morning, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the BUDI95 petrol subsidy program which will set the price of RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre for Malaysians. Most recently, through a sharing on social media platforms, it appears that national petroleum company, Petronas, is preparing to implement an identity card verification system at its petrol stations.

Through a sharing on social media site Facebook, the presentation slide below shows the verification system that credit card readers at Petronas petrol pumps will be equipped with identity card verification capabilities to obtain the BUDI95 subsidized price.

Before scanning the credit card, users will need to insert their MyKad into the credit card reader, where it will read the user’s details, and once verified, it will say that you are eligible to receive the subsidized price for RON95 petrol, and you will be able to pay to fill up your car’s fuel tank.

In the meantime, you can also choose to pay at the counter inside the Kedai Mesra, where there is a terminal that will read your identity card to verify your eligibility to receive the subsidy.

And as mentioned, if you have done eKYC (Know Your Customer) verification on digital wallet and petrol apps such as Touch’n’Go eWallet, Setel and CaltexGo, you can also enjoy the petrol subsidy price of RM1.99 per litre. It should also be noted that there is a 300 litre fill-up limit per month for this subsidy price.
