During the IDECS 2025 event, Sarawak Premier Yang Amat Bahagia Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari also gave an update on the internet network connectivity in Sarawak.
He announced that now more than 90 percent of the population areas throughout Sarawak can enjoy internet connection, enabling them to communicate with people not only within Sarawak, but throughout Malaysia and the world.
This is thanks to the state’s various plans to develop various infrastructure such as network substations and fiber optic cables for population and industrial areas to further accelerate the process of digitalization of services.
Meanwhile, for those living in the hinterland, the Sarawak government has also introduced the Sarawak Rural Broadband Network (MySRBN) program through the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation to ensure that rural population areas in the north and south of Sarawak can also benefit from internet services.
With this widespread internet service, the Sarawak Premier has also announced that to date, 25 thousand SMEs (small and medium enterprises) have digitized their businesses with the help of the state government, and this figure is expected to increase further by 2030.
The Sarawak government is also seen to be on track to achieve the development of 7000 telecommunications substation towers throughout the state by 2030 based on the government's Post COVID Development Strategy 2030 plan.
