Discord Estimates 70,000 Users Affected by Identity Theft

A few days ago, we reported that a customer service company that serves the gaming messaging platform Discord was hacked, and a number of users' personal details were apparently stolen.

Recently, Discord has apparently confirmed that the identity verification cards of 70,000 users of the platform were also stolen in the incident, and this was revealed through their recently updated statement.

According to Discord, these identity verification card images are typically used to resolve issues related to user identity disputes, as Discord can only be used by those aged 13 and over.

They also said that all individuals affected by this identity theft case have been notified of what happened, and Discord is now reportedly working with authorities to resolve it.

The hacking group that now has the details says that they have 2,185,151 of these ID pictures, but Discord says that the number they were told was not that much, and that it was only said that way to get more money.
