Lately, there has been much talk about the security of Malaysians’ data and personal details, which are increasingly porous with various reports of how it is often sold and can be viewed through dark web websites and recently, can be viewed directly through certain sites such as Caghi.
Digital Minister, Gobind Singh Deo recently answered a question by Langkawi MP Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah in a Parliament session on the steps the government has taken to address the recent large-scale data leaks.
Gobind said that a number of government security agencies, including CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM), the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), the Personal Digital Protection Department (JPDP) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission have been deployed to curb these leaks from becoming more widespread.

For now, he has confirmed that the MCMC has blocked access to the Caghi website, while the CSM, through their Cyber Risk Intelligence division, has analyzed information taken from the website, which is said to have been manipulated and used out of context to deceive victims.
Meanwhile, the MCMC and JPDP are working with local internet network providers, the police and are also said to be negotiating with website hosting companies and content storage networks to take down the website and also the people's data hosted there.
JPDP will also meet with the Royal Malaysian Police to discuss the process of intensifying cooperation between the two bodies to tighten law enforcement regarding the issue of the leakage and sale of people's personal information.
