Various artificial intelligence companies have been found to be using data belonging to other parties in training their respective artificial intelligence models. This has led to discussions involving them, in addition to various companies having taken steps to file lawsuits to protect their respective copyrights.
Most recently, Reddit has filed a lawsuit against Perplexity, claiming that they are using Reddit data and content without permission in training their artificial intelligence models. It is said that Reddit has issued a letter to stop doing so, but it is said that Perplexity continues to use, and even increases the use of Reddit content in training their models.
Reddit is currently willing to license their content to Google and OpenAI, which is also one of their sources of income. Reddit is certainly more open to licensing content, and does not want artificial intelligence companies to use content without permission.
In addition to Reddit, several other lawsuits are also in process in several courts around the world.
