Touch’n’Go And Star Systems International Announce Proof of Concept for Their Barrier-Free Toll System

As is well known, barrier-free toll payment systems (Multi Lane Fast Flow) are being tested by several parties, including the North-South Expressway Project (PLUS) and now, Touch’n’Go is partnering with STAR Systems International to develop their own barrier-free toll system.

Touch’n’Go uses technologies such as the Titan Flow reader developed by SSI and the Avior antenna, along with other technologies such as Automatic Number Plate Recognition and 3D LiDAR scanners using SIDRA’s PARSEC traffic scanner components to develop their own ANPR system that is similar, but different from what is being tested by PLUS.

Star Systems International is known for introducing the Titan Pro reader system used in the E-ZPass toll payment system in the United States.

In the meantime, several features of their TnG eWallet such as SOS Balance and eKYC are also being utilized to ensure the toll process is as smooth as possible. If you recall, the SOS Balance function on the TnG eWallet app helps you pay tolls in advance if your digital wallet balance is insufficient. You will then be asked to top up your wallet within 24 hours before you can use the TnG payment function again.

This MLFF system is also seen as an addition to the existing MyRFID non-stop payment system which uses cameras to scan code stickers on cars without having to stop.

Meanwhile, this is also seen as part of the Malaysian government's plan to implement this MLFF toll system throughout Malaysia by 2027.
