Less than 700 humans have ever been in space. According to the math, you have a higher chance of becoming the Prime Minister of Malaysia than of becoming the second Malaysian astronaut to go into space.
So the odds of setting foot on the surface of Mars are much lower. But Celestis, a company in the United States, is now offering burials on the Red Planet as early as 2030.
Through the Mars300 mission, Celestis wants to take 300 human ashes and DNA samples to Mars by 2030. Those interested will have to pay $24,995 and they are currently only taking $10 down payment.
For those who say this mission is impossible, Celestis has been offering a service to send ashes to space for burial since 1994. Among their most prominent customers is the creator of the Star Trek series, Gene Rodenberry, whose ashes were launched into space in 1997.
