DJI has officially launched the Osmo Mobile 8 in Malaysia. It comes with a similar design to the Osmo Mobile 7P but with comprehensive improvements. Among them are a multi-function tracking module with built-in light, Apple DockKit support, 360-degree rotation, and the ability to track pets.
This gimbal also features a strong magnetic clip, a battery that lasts up to 10 hours and a built-in tripod for more independent recording. It supports smartphones up to 3.3 inches wide and 300g in weight, and can be used to charge the phone via a USB-C connection.
The built-in smart module allows subject tracking in native or third-party camera applications. In addition, it supports motion control for hands-free recording, photo taking and frame adjustment. It also functions as a DJI microphone receiver, making it more versatile for audio and video recording.
In terms of software, the Osmo Mobile 8 comes with a dual-lens boost function via the DJI Mimo application as well as smart recording modes such as time-lapse, hyper-lapse and panorama. The Mimo app also supports AI-based editing and gimbal control via Apple Watch.
The Osmo Mobile 8 retails for RM569 in Malaysia for the basic package which includes the OM Magnetic Phone Clamp 4, tracking module, charging cable and several other accessories. It is now available at official DJI stores, authorized distributors nationwide and the Shopee platform.
