Maybank to Restrict Access to Banking Platform on Unsupported Web Browsers and Operating Systems

Last week, Maybank announced that its MAE application now supports identity verification using device biometrics for transaction verification via Secure2U.

In line with this, the bank also issued a statement saying that the bank will restrict access to its banking platform on devices or computers using unsupported operating systems and web browsers that have not been updated to the latest supported versions.

Banking platforms that will receive this digital security update include the MAE application, Maybank2u website, M2U Biz and M2E application and website platforms. Maybank said that this update will be introduced to these platforms in stages.

For Maybank apps, for example, Maybank will end app support on devices running Google Android 9, Android 10, Apple iOS 14 and iOS 15 operating systems.

For the website platform, web browsers that will no longer be supported include Opera version 116 and below, Microsoft Edge (Windows) version 133 and below, Google Chrome (Windows) version 133 and below, Mozilla Firefox (Windows) version 134 and below and Safari (Apple) version 17 and below.

Maybank recommends its customers to upgrade their smart device operating systems to Google Android 13 and above and Apple iOS 18 and above to enjoy the full functionality of the MAE, M2U Biz and M2E apps.

Maybank also said that Android 12, 13 and Apple iOS 16, 17 operating system applications will still be supported by Maybank, but will likely come with lower daily money transfer limits to ensure the security of user accounts.
