Facebook is adding a new feature to Facebook Groups, allowing administrators of Facebook Groups to change the settings of private groups to public.
This will make it easier for users to share content with others outside of the Facebook platform – for example through Threads and other platforms. All content shared before the group settings were changed will be accessible only to members, and only new shares after the settings change will be offered to the public.
Facebook says it will continue to maintain and protect the privacy of users in the group – where the list of members can only be accessed by administrators.
