With the 17th Sabah Legislative Assembly General Election soon to take place, social media service TikTok has become the first to announce a collaboration with the Election Commission of Malaysia (EC). Through it, various information will be provided, including protecting the integrity of the platform.
This includes protecting users from false and inaccurate information, in addition to providing authentic and reliable information related to the voting process. TikTok has also activated “Search Guide” support when users search for elections in Sabah.
TikTok also stated that they have taken down more than 450,000 videos that violated TikTok’s integrity and authenticity policy between the first quarter of 2024 and the second quarter of 2025.
Along with this development, TikTok also stated that it will not allow political advertisements and prohibit accounts belonging to government politicians or political parties from generating activities related to financial gain.
