Udo Kier, Actor of Red Alert 2 and COD WWII Dies

Udo Kier, a cult actor who starred in the video game series Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 and Call of Duty WWII, died yesterday at the age of 81. Kier starred in more than 275 films, TV series and video games in a career that began in 1966. The cause of his death has not yet been announced.

Among fans of the Command and Conquer series, Kier is well known for playing the antagonist Yuri who uses brain control powers to defeat enemies. In addition to Red Alert 2, he is also the main character in the DLC Command & Conquer: Yuri's Revenge. Meanwhile, he lent his voice to the character Dr. Peter Straub in Call of Duty WWII.

Born in Germany in 1944, Kier started life with a left foot. The hospital where he was born in Cologne was bombed by the Allied Forces so that he and his mother had to be dug out. In the world of silver screen, he often played the role of antagonists or vampire ghosts starting with the film Blood for Dracula before later in the film Blade.

Despite his death, Kier still has 7 projects in the works, including Hideo Kojima's OD video game. In X, Kojima stated that he was saddened by the news of his death because the acting recording phase for Kier's character had not yet been completed. OD is eagerly awaited by Kojima fans as it is believed to be a re-development of the P.T game that was canceled after he left Konami.
