Counterpoint – Global Foldable Phone Shipments Increase in Q3 2025

Global foldable phone shipments hit a new record in Q3 2025 with a growth of 14% year-on-year, making the total shipments in the quarter the highest ever.

The largest increase was driven by the Samsung Galaxy Z series, including the launch of the new Galaxy Z Fold 7 model, which contributed to the surge in demand. In addition, the success of the Mate series from Huawei and the Razr 60 from Motorola also strengthened the growth momentum of the foldable phone category.

Samsung’s performance in Q3 2025 recorded a 32% increase in global foldable phone shipments compared to the same period last year. Huawei was in second place with an estimated market share of 15% while Motorola with 7% and Honor with 6% completed the top four positions. Meanwhile, vivo recorded a market share of 4% while Xiaomi with 2% occupied the last two positions in the list of leading manufacturers of foldable smartphones.

According to the same report, the market share of foldable phones also now reaches 2.5% of total global shipments. Book-style models are seen as the main growth drivers, while clamshell models are also showing consistent growth.

Meanwhile, existing manufacturers are increasingly bold in exploring new innovations. Huawei, for example, is demonstrating its potential through several product experiments. Meanwhile, Samsung is introducing a trifold model as a pilot project to test durability and optimize software before commercializing it more widely.
