Grok Also Selected as AI for US Military Use



The Pentagon announced yesterday that the Grok family of border artificial intelligence (AI) systems will also be used by the US Department of War (DoW) in the GenAI.mil initiative. Through this initiative, AI will be used to perform tasks more efficiently and be ready for war in line with the AI ​​Action Plan announced by the White House.


Earlier this month, Gemini was selected as the first AI model to be used and now the Grok-based model is being used for secure handling of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) in daily workflows and access to real-time global views from the X platform, which provides Department of War personnel with critical information.


In July, contracts were awarded to Google, OpenAI, Preplexity and xAI by the DoW to test several models offered for government administration use. All companies received $200 million to demonstrate the capabilities of their respective AI for military needs.


With AI now a global trend, its use in all facets of administration is now accelerating in several countries. In America it is seen as a way to provide an advantage over enemy countries such as Russia, Iran and China.
