Starlink announced that they now have over 9 million monthly active subscribers in 155 countries and territories around the world. This is an increase from the 8 million subscribers announced earlier this November. The latest figure bodes well for the future of the satellite internet company that only started offering their services five years ago.
Since its launch, Starlink has proven that there is a market for high-speed satellite internet services, albeit at a more premium price. In Malaysia, their service has been offered since July 2023 with UiTM Kuala Pilah being the first location to install it in the country.
Although launched as an internet service for remote areas, Starlink is now also used in vehicles, aircraft and ships with faster internet speeds than previous systems. It has also been used in the Ukraine-Russia war and was illegally modified to be installed on kamikaze drones by Russia.
