The “Dead Internet Theory” says that the majority of internet users today are bots and not real people. This is proven by the use of bots to listen to songs on Spotify to make money, fake reviews on edgang sites and political bots that spread evil agendas during elections.
Previously, we reported that OpenAI is developing a social media platform to compete with X. Forbes today reported that this social media platform will use eye scans to ensure that users are human and not bots.
OpenAI will use the World ID system which requires the pupil to be scanned through a special globe-shaped device. This globe is a device originally developed by Tools for Humanity to register owners of the World Coin crypto which was later renamed World. Tools for Humanity is a subsidiary of Sam Altman so the use of World ID for identity verification is not surprising.
The World company caused controversy for collecting biometric information of users from Malaysia, Brazil, Portugal, Hong Kong, Kenya, Spain to get 20WLD which is worth around RM200. As a result, World was banned in Brazil and Portugal due to concerns that personal data was being taken without the recipient of the WLD crypto being aware of the implications.
