Anthropic, the developer of the artificial intelligence service Claude, today emphasized that its service will be ad-free, and will not display any ads in conversations. Anthropic said there are many good places for advertising, but conversations with Claude are not one of them.
Anthropic wants to position Claude as a service that helps with work and reasoning. Including advertising in that part is seen as inconsistent with what is wanted. Anthropic also wants Claude to operate in helping users, without being influenced by information or information from sponsors and advertisers.
This partnership comes from Anthropic, following OpenAI's recent announcement that it will begin experimenting with the inclusion of ads in ChatGPT. For now, only OpenAI has expressed its desire to display ads. Google itself has stated that it has no plans to display ads on Gemini, instead they will only display ads on Google AI Overviews in the search engine.
