Firefox Gives Users the Option to Turn Off All AI Features

Almost all modern web browsers, applications, and operating systems have integrated artificial intelligence (AI) systems because it is a current trend. Many use AI to improve productivity, but there are also a few who do not want to use it at all for personal reasons. Therefore, Mozilla announced the AI Controls feature that gives users the option to turn off AI features.

Users can turn off all built-in AI features or enable only the features they need. When turned off, Firefox will no longer receive recommendations or reminders of AI features that can be used. Once the settings are made, they will be saved to the profile with the settings not having to be done again when Firefox is installed on a new device.

The AI features currently offered by Firefox are AI translation to read websites in the preferred language, a built-in chatbot that supports Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and Le Chat Mistral. Also included is Firefox automatically collecting open tabs according to content and alt text directly in PDFs.

The AI Controls feature controls these AI features and can be used in Firefox 148, which will be released on February 24.
