Apple Provides Security Patches for Older Devices Like iPhone 6s and iPad Air 2

Among the risks of using older devices is that there is no longer support for security patches that make them no longer safe to use. If you are a user of older Apple devices, you are in luck because this week they provided iOS 15.8.7 and iPadOS 15.8.7 updates that patch the Coruna security vulnerability that Google and iVerify discovered last week.

Coruna is a group of 28 security vulnerabilities detected in the iOS 13 to iOS 17.2.1 operating system. The update provided by Apple patches all vulnerabilities at the kernel and WebKit levels that were detected. The list of devices that received the iOS 15.8.7 and iPadOS 15.8.7 updates is as follows. The oldest device on this list is the iPod Touch gen 4 which was launched in 2010.

iPhone 6s

iPhone 7

iPhone SE (gen 1)

iPad Air 2

iPad mini 4

iPod touch (gen 7)
