To eradicate fake news, the Ask Grok feature was introduced on X with the fact that you can quickly check using the command “Grok is this true?”. But since last weekend this feature is no longer available to everyone but only to X Premium and X Premium+. subscribers.
No reason was given by Grok why this popular feature was locked behind a monthly subscription. It is likely that like Grok Chat, it was given for free in the initial stage to attract free users to subscribe because they felt it was a useful feature.
Last month xAI was reported to be spending $1 billion a month to cover the operation of the Grok service, Grokipedia and various video and photo generation features. Various negative incidents involving Grok have not helped the image of this xAI chatbot. Only 3 of the 13 founders of xAI are still with the company due to various issues that have arisen.
