LG Produces 1-120Hz LCD Panel That Saves Users Up to 48% Power

LG Display has begun mass production of laptop LCD panels with Oxide 1Hz technology that allows the panel to operate at a refresh rate of 120Hz or 1Hz according to the content being displayed.

Oxide 1Hz technology allows this panel to automatically change the refresh rate. For example, 1Hz to display static content such as emails, ebooks, or work documents. Then it increases to 120Hz to display videos, video games, and dynamic content. This reduces battery consumption by up to 48% compared to regular LCD panels. Previously, if you wanted to save battery consumption, only OLED or E-ink panels were used.

The Oxide 1Hz panel will be used by Dell first, especially for the premium XPS series. LG Display also plans to begin mass production of 1Hz OLED panels in 2027.
