In conjunction with the MWC 2026 event held in Barcelona, Qualcomm took the opportunity to announce collaborations with a number of partners, and will drive the development of the next-generation network, 6G. According to the initial target, Qualcomm aims to commercialize the 6G network starting in 2029.
6G is developed with a focus on native support for AI, allowing it to offer connectivity support, high-performance computing, and large-scale sensing. This will lead to a number of new use cases, including for agent-based AI devices.
6G is also expected to be a starting point for supporting artificial intelligence, robotics, and so on. By 2028, the industry is expected to show specifications and pre-commercial devices that support it. If all goes well, it will be commercialized by 2029, and the public can start using it starting in 2029.
