The Steam Machine, Steam Controller and Steam Frame were announced last year and were originally set to launch early this year. However, issues with component supply, particularly memory, have led to speculation that they may not be launched this year at all. Valve last weekend issued a statement saying they would still launch all three products this year. More information on dates and prices will be announced once Valve has finalized their plans.
When the three products were announced in November last year, many hoped that the selling price would be comparable to a console with Valve providing subsidies to make them more affordable. Valve later said that the selling price would be comparable to a PC. With PC component prices now soaring by up to 40%, Valve has yet to announce the selling price of the Steam Machine and Steam Frame.
This is a global issue that has forced Micron to discontinue the Crucial brand, ASUS not offering new smartphones this year and causing the launch of the PS5 and new Xbox to be postponed until a time when component prices are no longer too high.
