UK Man Alleges Wife Stole Bitcoin Worth RM673 Million Using CCTV

Last year we reported on a man in Wales asking the court to allow him to buy a landfill because it contained a hard drive that stored 8,000 Bitcoins, which at the time were worth RM3.43 billion. Today we would like to report on a UK man, Ping Fai Yuen, who alleges that his wife Fun Yung Li stole 2,323 Bitcoins, estimated to be worth RM673 million, from his Trezor wallet.

The Bitcoins are believed to have been stolen after his wife managed to see the Bitcoin wallet seed phrase using a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera at home. According to Fung, these Bitcoins were transferred to 71 different wallet addresses on August 2, 2023. He received a warning from his wife's children that they wanted to steal his crypto money. Therefore, Fung placed a microphone at home to obtain evidence. Among the audios that were successfully recorded was the wife and a friend saying that all the bitcoins had been taken and transferred to his crypto wallet.

Fung filed a lawsuit against his wife in November 2025, ordering the wife's wallet to be frozen and the stolen Bitcoin to be returned. The case will be heard in court immediately after taking into account the rapidly changing value of Bitcoin.
