Garmin watch users can now use the WhatsApp app directly from their watch after Garmin announced its availability via the Connect IQ Store. Supported models include the fÄ“nix, Forerunner, Venu and vÃvoactive series, allowing users to enjoy a more comprehensive experience without having to take out their phone.
Through this new offering, users can view recent messages, send emojis or reactions, view up to 10 messages in the chat history, and receive incoming calls with the option to reject. All messages and calls are also protected with end-to-end encryption to ensure privacy is always maintained.
Interestingly, WhatsApp is said to be the first third-party messaging app to officially appear on Garmin watches through the Connect IQ ecosystem. In fact, Garmin emphasizes that the presence of this application gives users a new way to stay connected in various situations such as when exercising or moving.
For owners of selected Garmin watches, this application can be downloaded via the Connect IQ Store. In addition to Garmin, WhatsApp is now also available for Apple Watch (Series 4 and above with watchOS 10) allowing users to read messages, reply, send voice messages and react directly from their watch.
