A few weeks ago, the Darksword malware was discovered, and it was found to be able to hack iPhone devices running iOS18 and below. Apple has rolled out an update for iPhone devices that cannot upgrade to iOS 26 to ensure that their devices remain secure.
For iPhone owners who can upgrade to the latest iOS 26 version, Apple had previously asked them to upgrade to the operating system because it is protected from the Darksword attack, but it seems that many still want to use the operating system, which is launched in 2024.
Recently, technology site Wired reported that Apple has told them that Apple will roll out a new security update for Apple devices that have not yet upgraded to the latest operating system to ensure that they also remain safe from the Darksword attack.
Darksword is a malware that, when used on devices that do not have the proper security updates, allows hackers to easily steal user data from iPhone devices.
This security update was developed possibly due to reports that 1/4 of iPhone users today are still using the iOS 18 operating system, and have not upgraded to iOS 26 because they are still using older devices like the iPhone X or they do not want to upgrade their operating system at this time.
Apple says that this security update will be introduced as early as today, and those who have the automatic update feature enabled can download it as soon as possible.
