The four-day journey of the Artemis II crew to the moon in the Integrity space capsule will reach its climax early tomorrow morning. At around 1:30 am on April 7, Malaysia time, Integrity will begin its journey to the far side of the moon and set a new record for the farthest journey ever made by humans from Earth.
For those who want to see this history made for themselves, NASA will stream it live on its official YouTube channel and Netflix. Integrity is expected to break the old record of 400,171 km from Earth set by the Apollo 13 mission in 1970 at around 7:07 am. At this point, Integrity will be 406,000 kilometers from Earth.
Unfortunately, during the record, Integrity could not be contacted because it was completely behind the moon for 40 minutes from 6:44 am to 7:25 am. The crew will be able to see the surface of the far side of the moon as well as several Apollo mission sites that were carried out over 50 years while orbiting the moon.
After all this is completed, the process of returning to Earth will begin with Integrity expected to land in the Pacific Ocean on April 11.
