Since its launch 22 years ago, DaVinci Resolve has been a software synonymous with video editing like Premiere Pro and Final Cut. But with the recently launched DaVinci Resolve 21, it now has a static photo editing feature like Lightroom.
The photo editing feature is called Photo Page. It is fully integrated into Resolve with LUT support and saves the same color profiles as those supported in video editing. There is a LightBox feature to view the entire album with the color grades used. Sony and Canon cameras can also be connected directly to Resolve for direct photo capture.
In addition, various artificial intelligence (AI) features such as AI Magic Mask and AI UltraSharpen can also be used. AI UltraSharpen can increase the resolution of images compared to the original resolution to look sharper.
In the video editing section, dozens of new features are introduced such as Apple Immersive video support to produce VR180 and VR360 content. There are settings for it to be played in Meta Quest and YouTube VR. MultiMaster allows HDR and SDR content to be produced simultaneously in one workflow.
The AI features introduced are as follows.
AI IntelliSearch – search for objects, faces, dialogue in media.
AI Speech Generator – generate voice from text or user voice samples.
AI CineFocus – reset focus point with aperture & bokeh control.
AI Face Age Transformer – change the age of the subject.
AI Face Reshaper – reshape facial features.
AI Blemish Removal – remove skin blemishes.
AI Slate ID – automatically read clapboard information.
AI UltraSharpen – sharpen visuals.
AI Motion Deblur – reduce motion blur.
DaVinci Resolve 21 Public Beta is available for free download on the Blackmagic Design website today. The full version of DaVinci Resolve 21 with all usable features will be sold for $295.
