Passenger Connection Between KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to Start as Early as Q2 2026

Passenger connections between KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are expected to start in the second or third quarter of 2026, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke. In the first phase, only passengers without checked baggage will be able to make connections. Later, in the second phase, passengers with checked baggage will be able to make connections.

This second phase is more complex as it involves coordination between airlines and the baggage transfer system between KLIA T1 and T2. The focus will be on smooth movement and security control. So far, all airlines have agreed to support the implementation of this connection.

With the support of passengers between KLIA T1 and T2, they will no longer need to go through security checks again. Transfers will be done via bus services. Among the issues currently being faced is the baggage handling system upgrade project that was supposed to be completed in December 2025 is now only expected to be completed in Q4 2028.
