Samsung Messages App to Be Terminated – Asking Users to Switch to Google Messages

Samsung has now begun the process of terminating the Samsung Messages app (also known as Samsung Messages). The termination is expected to be done in stages, with it targeted to be terminated in the United States by July 2026.

As an alternative, Samsung is encouraging users to switch to Google Messages as the main messaging app – which also comes built-in with Samsung’s Android devices. This change is seen to affect users of the latest devices, while users with Android 11 and earlier devices are not affected.

Samsung Messages was previously used to manage SMS receipts. With the transition to Google Messages, users will be able to enjoy more interesting features, including RCS messaging support, Gemini integration, and several others.

For your information, Samsung has been doing this transition in stages, and some new Samsung devices have not included the Samsung Messages app since 2024.
