Open source operating system developer, Ubuntu has now stated the minimum specifications for using their upcoming latest version of the operating system, Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. Through it, it is now recommended that computers use 6GB of RAM and above to install Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, thus showing an improvement over the previous version which only required 4GB of RAM.
In parallel, Ubuntu 26.04 LTS also requires a 2GHz dual-core processor chip and above, in addition to at least 25GB of storage space for installation.
As usual, users can still install it on computers with lower specifications, but the performance is expected to be lower and is not recommended.
However, if you want an alternative, a number of other Ubuntu variants are expected to still offer support for computers with lower specifications. Ubuntu 26.04 LTS is targeted for launch on April 23, 2026.
