The X site (formerly Twitter) is no longer the best if you want the latest information, the fastest news and information in short, hard-to-read forms. The introduction of the X Premium subscription that allows users to generate revenue through advertising has made the site now filled with spam, clickbait, fake content and stealing viral topics from smaller accounts.
This issue seems to be addressed by X by imposing an advertising revenue penalty of up to 80% on accounts that use the above tactics to attract attention. An initial 60% cut will be applied. If it continues, an additional 20% cut will be applied in the next advertising payment cycle.
Among other practices that are no longer allowed is flooding the timeline with content continuously. Using the phrase ‘🚨 BREAKING‘ in every tweet to get attention can also be subject to the same penalty.
With the introduction of this very high revenue penalty, X hopes that more powerful and original content will be uploaded by users like in the era when it was still using the Twitter name.
