Canon EOS R6 V Launched – 32.5MP Full-Frame Sensor And Built-in Cooling Fan

The Canon EOS R6 V was officially launched yesterday as a full-frame camera with a built-in active cooling system. However, it lacks an EVF and does not use a mechanical shutter button as it is designed specifically for video recording purposes.

The Canon EOS R6 V uses a 32.5 MP full-frame CMOS sensor with internal recording up to 7K RAW 60p (Open Gate 7K RAW 30p). It also supports 4K DCI/UHD recording up to 120p with 4K Fine Oversampling mode from 7K.

The camera also offers support for ProRes RAW output via HDMI to Atomos recorders, Canon Log 2 and Log 3 with HEVC/AVC codecs in MP4 format, and comes with dual CFexpress Type B and SD card slots that support simultaneous RAW and MP4 recording.

For video, it uses Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology with subject detection such as people, animals and vehicles, while in-body image stabilization reaches up to 7.5 stops when combined with the RF24-105mm F2.8 L IS USM lens.

The camera is also equipped with a built-in cooling fan with three speeds to ensure long-term recording without overheating issues. In addition, it only uses an electronic shutter without mechanical support and does not support flash.

There is also a 3.0-inch LCD screen that can be rotated or folded in various directions without EVF. The camera weighs around 688 grams including the battery, while the available connections include USB-C 10 Gbps, full HDMI, 3.5 mm audio jack as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support.

Complementing this launch, Canon also launched several accessories such as the BR-E2 Wireless Remote-Control which adds zoom control and lighting control via Bluetooth. The Canon EOS R6 V is expected to be available in the market at the end of June for around $2499 (RM9,821) for the body only.
