DJI Romo 2 Launched With Drone Technology And AI-Powered Cleaning System

DJI entered the smart home appliance segment last year with its smart vacuum robot products and is now presenting a new generation with the Romo 2 series. Two models are offered, the Romo P2 and Romo A2, each equipped with interesting improvements to keep up with current trends.

This new series focuses on a smarter cleaning process while reducing the need for manual maintenance. DJI is also positioning the Romo 2 series as a premium solution for smart home cleaning powered by AI technology and DJI's space sensor system.

The Romo 2 comes with an improved AI-powered cleaning system, capable of identifying floor conditions and automatically adjusting cleaning modes.

This vacuum robot can also increase suction power when cleaning carpets, detect liquid spills for mopping, and move smoothly in cluttered spaces without the user having to move furniture.

DJI also completes this series with a new obstacle avoidance system based on drone technology that combines LiDAR, a wide-angle camera, and a ToF sensor to identify small obstacles such as thin cables. The system is also capable of detecting translucent objects such as mirrors and glass, while a built-in dust detection light helps the robot work in dark environments.

The Romo 2 also features a robotic arm that can swing up to 123 degrees for deep cleaning, with an additional 4.5cm reach compared to the previous model. It also offers up to 36,000Pa of suction power with Boost Mode for carpets and dust, supports obstacles up to 8.5cm high, and an anti-tangle brush for hair management.

DJI also focuses on better maintenance through a smart dock that supports high-temperature cleaning, antibacterial features, hot air drying, and automatic sewage cleaning. In addition, it also supports voice control, remote video communication, dirt heat map display in the DJI Home app, and 55W fast charging.

The Romo P2 (water tank) is priced at RMB5,999 (~RM3,471) while the Romo P2 with automatic dock is priced at RMB6,499 (~RM3,760). Meanwhile, Romo A2 (water tank) is offered at RMB5,499 (~RM3,182) and Romo A2 with automatic dock is priced at RMB5,999 (~RM3,471).

For now, it is not yet certain whether this series will be brought into Malaysia, but as an alternative, the first generation of DJI Romo has already gone on sale recently.
