Since the offering of artificial intelligence services and models generated by Chinese companies, various accusations have been made that Chinese companies use Western models in training their models. While several firms have denied the allegations, now through the ongoing court case involving OpenAI and Elon Musk, it is seen that Elon Musk admitted that the Grok model by xAI was trained using the OpenAI model.
Through this step, it also allows Grok to train AI models without spending as much as OpenAI's development costs for their models. This technique is also often called a "distillation" technique on the original model. As many are aware, the cost of model development is very high, and this step is used to speed up the development process. However, this step is a violation of ethics, just like various artificial intelligence companies that use copyrighted content in training their respective models.
For now, OpenAI has not issued any statement in response or response to Elon Musk's admission.
