The largest selfie camera on a smartphone on the market today is 50MP, which uses a square sensor. Last year's iPhone 17 series introduced a 1:1 square sensor that allows landscape selfies to be taken even when the device is held vertically.
Today, DigitalChatStation claims that Oppo is developing a device with a 100MP 1:1 selfie camera. If these rumors are true, we have finally entered the era of a front camera with a 100MP sensor for the first time in history.
The use of a better sensor on the front comes at a time when more and more people are using it to create content, especially live streaming. Recording videos or photos with a large front camera sensor will produce better quality.
Previously, the rotating rear camera technology was used on the Oppo N1 and Samsung Galaxy A80 for better selfie quality.
