It's no longer a secret that Samsung will launch a wide-screen folding device this year, which is believed to be called the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide. A rather long name and admittedly not very attractive to the market. Now, reports have emerged that two new names will be used for this device, namely the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8. Meanwhile, another model with a regular screen ratio will use the name Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.
This new naming will reduce confusion and differentiate the two models more significantly. It is understood that the Z Fold8 will only be equipped with a dual camera on the back, while the Z Fold8 Ultra will retain the use of a tri-camera like last year's Z Fold7. It is also an early step for Samsung because the first foldable iPhone is believed to also use the Ultra name.
Meanwhile, a protective screen panel for the Z Fold8 has been leaked by Ice Universe, showing the device's outer screen is very wide compared to other phones on the market. It is very similar to the screen ratio of the Huawei Pura X Max that was just launched in China.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 series will be launched around September alongside the Galaxy Watch and smart glasses equipped with the Android XR operating system. The designs of the first two glasses were already revealed during the Google I/O event last week.
