Have you ever heard of the “Dead Internet Theory” that says that traffic on the internet will no longer be between humans but between bots? This conspiracy theory that emerged in 2021 has finally become a reality according to the latest data from Cloudflare. This is the first time in history that bot traffic has surpassed humans since the internet was created.
Cloudflare data today shows that 57.4% of traffic on the internet is from robots with the remaining 43.6% being humans. Last March, Cloudflre CEO Matthew Prince predicted that this would happen as early as 2027. The explosion of traffic from bots driven by AI agents such as OpenClaw, Gemini Intelligence and Microsoft Scout makes Prince’s prediction come early.
