macOS 27 Golden Gate Will Not Support Macs with Intel Chips

macOS 27 Golden Gate was announced this morning bringing new features such as Siri AI, faster search, a more responsive operating system, Liquid Glass that can be customized according to user preferences and more. With the operating system now official, Apple also officially confirmed that macOS Golden Gate will not support Mac computers with Intel chips.

Only Macs with Apple Silicon launched in 2020 and above will be supported from now on. All MacBooks, Mac Pros, Mac minis and iMacs with Intel chips will only receive legacy security patches like Apple did with classic iPhones like the recent iPhone 6s.

This confirmation is not surprising because last year with macOS 26 Tahoe they already said that it was the last version that Macs with Intel chips would receive. Although the era of Apple's Intel computers is now buried, the companies' cooperation is now back together. Apple reportedly agreed to use Intel's fabrication plants this year to meet the production needs of legacy chips.
