Anthropic has launched a new model, the Claude Opus 5, with advanced performance for coding and knowledge-based tasks. According to Anthropic, Opus 5 offers significant improvements over Opus 4.8.
The cost of use is the same as Opus 4.8 at $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens. This is half the cost of using Fable 5. Opus 5 is targeted for everyday use rather than heavy workloads. Some of the things it can do include complex software engineering, business automation, and scientific research.
From a security perspective, it is a model with a lower rate of misleading behavior. It is also less vulnerable to offensive cyber attacks than Mythos 5. If it detects an attempt to use it for unsafe purposes, Anthropic will immediately switch to the Opus 4.8 model
Claude Opus 5 is now available for use by Claude Max and Claude Pro customers today.
