Flex Titanium and Silicon Carbon Battery – The Latest Innovations of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Series

The introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 series marks an important step in the world of foldable smartphones. This device comes with a thinner screen as a result of engineering innovations that go beyond mere cosmetic changes, making it a mature generation so far.

In a roundtable session with Moon Sung-hoon, Executive Vice President of Strategic Product Development of Samsung Electronics, and several media representatives, a discussion was held on the future of foldable smartphones. The main focus was on the Galaxy Z Fold8 which is now equipped with Flex Titanium technology and a silicon battery, marking a new direction in the evolution of foldable devices.

Seven Generations Full of Innovation

Samsung explained that the evolution of their foldable smartphones has begun over the past seven generations. During that period, user feedback has been the main basis for every decision made. For Samsung, the actual experience of people using devices in daily life is considered more valuable than mere theory. As a result of this approach, the galaxy z series has grown into a more comprehensive product line. It not only introduces new innovations with each generation, but also meets the various needs of users.

In its latest innovations, Samsung focuses on three key aspects that consumers consider important. First, a larger screen to provide an immersive visual experience. Second, a lighter and more portable design to adapt to modern lifestyles. Third, improved durability so that foldable phones remain practical for long-term use.

This approach shows that each generation is not just a cosmetic change but a continuous evolutionary step. It reflects Samsung’s efforts to shape the future of foldable smartphones by prioritizing the true user experience.

Titanium Flex Innovation

Samsung shared that the titanium flex technology on the Galaxy Z Fold8 is an important step in the development of foldable smartphones. This innovation is not just a change in the external design, but an engineering result that helps improve the durability and usability of the device. With a stronger structure, the experience of using a foldable phone feels more comfortable and reassuring in daily use.

The hinge has also been redesigned to provide a smoother opening and closing feel to make every use more comfortable. In addition, the device has undergone various real-world tests including high temperatures, humidity, pressure, and repeated folding. Overall, this approach shows that innovation is more meaningful when it is proven to be reliable in everyday life, not just a concept on paper.

Silicon Carbon Battery Innovation

In the same session, Samsung also shared about the battery innovation brought by the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. They explained that the use of silicon carbon anodes in the new battery cell is an important step to increase energy density. As a result, the battery capacity now reaches 5000 mah despite the device's thinner design compared to the previous generation.

In addition, for the first time in the foldable series, 45w fast charging support is introduced. According to Samsung, this solution not only speeds up the charging process, but also maintains a balance between speed and long-term durability. This approach shows that the innovation brought is not just about increasing the specification figures, but provides more tangible benefits to users in everyday life.

Samsung's Position in the Market and Competitive Advantage

In this discussion, questions also arose about efforts to make phones thinner and how Samsung is addressing the issue of the increasingly large camera bump. Samsung explained that their approach is not just focused on physical limitations, but instead continues to invest in research and development to produce a simpler camera system while maintaining performance. The main focus is to ensure a good user experience with an easy-to-carry device and a camera that is balanced in terms of size and quality.

The decision to choose Flex Titanium is also considered an unusual move. Samsung explained that the choice of titanium was made because of the metal's properties, which are known for their strength and durability. For the Galaxy Z Fold8, they used a thin layer of titanium with a special structured design in the folding area. This design helps the screen to remain flatter and more durable even after repeated use, thus increasing consumer confidence in the durability of the device.

When asked whether the use of titanium increases the cost of the device and what about the durability of the folding, Samsung explained that their focus is not just on numbers such as the number of folds but on durability in real life. The Flex Titanium along with the new hinge design helps increase the level of durability. Cost is not considered a major issue as what is more important is the quality and long-term reliability that users can feel.

Touching on the camera, when asked why the zoom camera on the Fold Ultra is not on par with the Galaxy S Ultra series, Samsung explained that they are committed to continuously improving the camera system through a combination of hardware and software. In addition to the lens, AI-based image processing is used to improve resolution and quality. This effort will continue in the next generation with the goal of achieving a balance between a compact folding design and better camera performance.

When asked about how Samsung wants to maintain its leadership position when Apple is expected to enter the foldable phone market, the company explained that their strategy is centered on long-term vision and consumer needs. Samsung sees itself as a pioneer in this category and emphasizes that they have set industry standards from the beginning.

With seven generations of data and user feedback, they understand what is needed more clearly and make it the main driver of innovation. The experience accumulated over the years also serves as the basis for introducing new technologies that are relevant to current needs. This approach helps Samsung maintain its position in the global market while being ready to face challenges from any competitor.
